Some of the biggest pop acts of the 1990s are making big comebacks in the music world these days. Gwen Stefani's band, No Doubt, is just the latest in a long line of musical comebacks that have 90s kids excited. Here is a look at what No Doubt and other 90s bands are up to today.
Lead singer Gwen Stefani hasn't left the spotlight much since the 1990s, but the platinum blonde beauty has become more famous for her clothing line than her music recently. That seems to be changing now that her band, No Doubt, has released a new single. The video for the song, "Looking Hot," was pulled after some viewers thought that it was offensive to Native Americans. The video showed the 43-year-old mom and band mate Tony Kanal wearing Native American clothing. The band issued an apology for the video, but they are spending some time in the spotlight as a result.
The Spice Girls delighted fans when they performed together at the Closing Ceremony of the London Olympics this summer. The on-stage reunion was just part of the British pop group's comeback. All five Spice Girls also appeared in a television documentary, with each of their mothers talking about the girls' rise to fame. The Spice Girls also have a musical. "Viva Forever," which is based on their 90s hits. The musical will be playing in London's famous West End.
The Backstreet Boys reunited this year on "Good Morning America," and announced that they were working on a new album. Following their days as teen heartthrobs, they did go out on tour -- without original member Kevin Richardson -- but but when Kevin rejoined the group in July for the GMA concert series, the band's comeback became official. The group announced this week that they are releasing a new Christmas single, "It's Christmas Time Again." This is the group's first Christmas single since 1996.
Mariah Carey has enjoyed several comebacks in her career since the 1990s, and has continued to stay in the news with her marriage to Nick Cannon. Now it seems as though her music career is setting off again. The pop! supersta! r is not only a judge on "American Idol," she has also released new music this year. The video for her single, "Triumphant (Get 'Em)," features DJ Khaled, Rick Ross and rapper Meek Mills. Fans might also be surprised to know that her manager is none other than Randy Jackson, her fellow judge on "American Idol."
