Cowboys, feather headdresses and kidnapping Gwen Stefani: No Doubt apologise for racist Indians video

The band, who released their new album Push and Shove in September after a long break, have apologised for the video which showed clichd images of Native Americans and shots of Gwen Stefani being tied to poles.

The band, whose members include Tony Kanal, Adrian Young and Tom Dumont, said on their official website that they had consulted with Native American friends and experts from the University of California, but realised they had offended people.

They wrote: "As a multi-racial band our foundation is built upon both diversity and consideration for other cultures. Our intention with our new video was never to offend, hurt or trivialise Native American people, their culture or their history.

"Being hurtful to anyone is simply not who we are."
