No Doubt work to balance life and band

Gwen Stefani struggled to deal with her bust life as a mother and the reformation of No Doubt.

The 42-year-old singer - who has children Kingston, six and Zuma, four with husband Gavin Rossdale - admits it was hard to balance the needs of her kids and the band's reunion, but worked hard at it, as she wanted it to work so badly.

She said: 'We were only able to get together three days a week and, because I had the kids, there was only a limited amount of time.

'I was exhausted by the time I got there, so it was a struggle trying to weigh and balance everything out with the kids. But it was that fight that made the record so great.'

Gwen particularly found it hard touring as a solo star when she just had Kingston.

Gwen added: 'I went round the world with Kingston on my own and that was really hard. I was nursing him for 14 months so I would nurse, go on stage and wake up through the night and on the bus, and it was just like, 'What am I doing?' It was so hard.'

All of Gwen's bandmates are also now parents, and guitarist Tom Dumont has said their experiences helped shape their new album, 'Push and Shove'.

He said: 'There's a lot of kids between us so we're pulled in many different directions but we're so proud of this record and we put a lot of time into it.'
