Gwen Stefani: 'No Doubt feels like home'

Singer also admits that her solo career got out of control

No Doubt's Gwen Stefani has admitted that her solo career got out a little out of control in the noughties.

The singer said that she played up to a role and she's happy to be back doing her day job.

She told New York Magazine:

That whole period when I got to do [solo] records, to me it was indulging my theatrical side, songs that were never really meant to be taken seriously, just for fun.

Stefani added: ''It was just a project I did that was very inspired, and it kind of got a little out of control, really. But there's no place like home, we're so comfortable together, we understand each other. It feels, like, normal. Whereas that [solo] period felt like I was trying to be something, and play a role, and pretend.''

No Doubt will release their first album 'Push And Shove' in over 10 years next month. Stefani previously said that the band were unhappy that they had been forced to move back the record's original release date of Christmas 2011, but they had now made "the record of our lives".

The LP, which is their sixth studio album, is released on September 24 in the UK.
