Which Tween Queen Spent the Long Weekend with Gwen Stefani?
It's been a hella good long time since anyone's heard a new No Doubt album. (Eleven years, in fact.) But the veteran pop act's primed to make their return, with a new disc on the way (it's due September 25), and their first live TV performance already on the books. They'll play the Teen Choice Awards July 22 -- never mind they're all 20+ years from teenaged. But you're only as old as the company you keep, and lead singer Gwen Stefani's been holding court with a total teen queen: Selena Gomez.
Stefani and Gomez were both photographed at a Memorial Day beach BBQ this weekend. To be fair to both of them, it's not as though they were hanging out for pure market research purposes (that we know), and Stefani was there with husband Gavin Rossdale and their two fashion-forward tots in tow. Both pop stars were on the Malibu beach for Hollywood producer Joel Silver's annual long-weekend bash -- and going off the photographic evidence, the guestlist also included Twilight's Ashley Greene, Glee's Dianna Agron and The Avengers' Robert Downey Jr, among others.
Wonder if any of them got scoop on No Doubt's as-yet-untitled record? The band's been tinkering on new music since the spring of 2008 (remember their cover of Adam and the Ants' "Stand and Deliver" on a 2009 ep of Gossip Girl?) and have more recently been focusing on finishing an album. A behind-the-scenes video posted to their official site earlier this month revealed the group has been working on a new song called "Push and Shove" with Major Lazer's Diplo and Switch, and they've been sharing frequent studio updates via Twitter.
"We are incredibly excited to share the new music with you. Ear cand! y coming your way," the band wrote in early May on a blog posted to their site. "Thank you all so much for your support over the last 25 years. We're really proud of our new album and we hope you love it as much as we do."
